Almighty God,
We are hurting down here, but You already know that.
As I continue to make my way through “The Bible Recap,” I know that You allow things to happen that aren’t good but that are part of Your perfect and divine plan. We see it time and again in Your holy Word. Wars, famine, chaos (as in Haiti), division….
Help us.
Help us to LOVE. Most major religions–even those that are not Christian–focus on love.
We are divided in our country and in this world. We are a world and a country of many faiths, cultures, colors, and so many other parts of this magnificent tapestry You birthed into being a gazillion years ago through whatever way You chose to create this world, our universe, and the other universes in space.
Remind us to…
Stop thinking OUR choice or way is the absolute right way.
Stop plucking verses from Your Word to support our preferred political candidates.
Pray for those who currently hold positions of leadership and those who may or will hold such positions. It’s the right thing to do.
Stop sharing cheap memes and other sources of “information” without digging to the ultimate source of that information.
Respectfully listen to others–especially those whose political choices differ from ours–and help us to seek respect when we share our own opinions.
Acknowledge we are not the authority on all things national or global.
Stop fighting on social media but rather, have true, respectful conversations in a spirit of love. Forgive me for having done this myself. I truly hang my head in shame for goading here and there.
LOVE. The greatest thing we can do is to show love and kindness… to those who don’t share our skin color, religion, sexual preferences or orientation, opinions on issues…
Father, help us lean into love and kindness and respect.
At the end of the day, all of us who inhabit this orb are on the same team… or should be. It’s called humanity.
May we lean into this…
Thank You for creating us. May we treat each other as Your divine creations… even when we differ and disagree.
And may You bless not only our nation but our WORLD.
Amen.
