A couple years ago, I did a continuing education program on breath work with the wonderful Kathleen Kramer, a very seasoned yogini who lives in my area.
Not only did Katie teach me much about the power of our breath, she inspired me with a meditation she offered three times at the end of our sessions. It goes like this:
May I be SAFE.
May I be HEALTHY.
May I be JOYFUL.
May I be FREE.
I am a big believer that our self-talk gets into our bones and cells. People who constantly lie start to believe the lies they construct. People who always talk about how sick they are often see no improvement in their health. People who speak love and joy to others not only affect the recipients; they impact themselves, too.
I began using this powerful meditation at the end of my classes, whether I was teaching, practicing at home, or as a student in a class.
Safe. Healthy. Joyful. Free
Everyday I come before God in prayer, placing my entire family in His hands and asking–just for that day–for Him to bless my family and loved ones with safety, provision, health, healing, and well-being. I pray a shield of protection around my family.
The meditation I learned from Katie and the prayers I offer up daily have been on my mind alot in recent days.
Why?
I was in a situation where I felt unsafe, and I’m still processing it. It shocked me beyond being shocked.
And I thought about this meditation I speak so frequently over myself and my yoga students, along with the prayers I lift up.
I am still processing what happened, but I will be okay.
Get positive and protective self-talk into your bones… into your cells.
And stay tethered to those who love and protect you.
